My Two Cents

It’s hard not to think about the state of the world today. In fact, it is definitely in our best interest to be well informed as well as aware of our surroundings at all times. However, we cannot live our lives in fear. Nor can we stop living altogether. I am breathing and writing, my husband is snoring comfortably on the couch, I can hear the tv playing an early Christmas special, cars are passing by on their way down the hill, and I just finished filling out the forms for the latest 6th grade DC trip fundraiser. Life is moving forward, the Earth is turning, and time continues onward. (There’s even a cozy cat

imagesnuggled down and purring at my side). My guess is that in many places of the world tonight things are not so easy… And that’s an understatement to be sure.

Right now, what is the simple truth? I am an American. A proud, Christian American. Do I like what this country has become? No I do not… We. Need. Change. A revival of moral standards and a pure and simple respect for our neighbor. None of us are entitled and we need to stop acting like it. We also need to stop being politically correct. Let’s get a back bone, and stand strong for this country, together. Remember these words?… “One nation, under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all.” Yep. That’s what this great nation was founded on. Like it or not. And that is the simple fact. The simple and only way we are going to keep our borders and our soil safe. United. As one. Respectful of and helpful to those around us. By supporting our brave and self sacrificing troops. By loving our families, being honest and working together – not against one another. By imagebeing kind to those around us – smile, say hello, let another driver go ahead of you in the traffic, ask someone how they are, laugh with someone you don’t know, hold a door, lend a hand. It’s not hard. In fact, it’s quite refreshing to those you come into contact with. And, I have to say, it just plain makes me happy to be a bright spot in someone else’s day. Don’t know what to say? The easiest thing is to comment about weather, traffic, holidays, or give someone a compliment – Great scarf! Your garden looks terrific, that’s a lot of hard work you’ve put into it. That’s a beautiful dog, what’s his name? Could this weather be any more beautiful for November?…

We are so blessed to live in this great nation yet we have become so isolated, jaded, complacent, opinionated, disrespectful and downright rude. So instead, let’s remember that we’re all on the same team… Respect is something you only get when you give it.

  1. I have often wondered that as well. Our media is so sensationalized and biased. Sometimes I wonder if we really know the true state of our nation at all?

  2. I agree. I wonder if there aren’t a lot of us in this country with similar views. The media paints a different picture but that may just be part of a marketing strategy to keep people funneled into where they think we should all be.

  3. I cannot tell you how much I love this post and agree with everything you have said. It is a conversation my husband and I have all the time!
This was a great read, thank you! πŸ˜ƒ

    1. Thank you, Brittney. I have so much pride and love for the foundation of our country, and we are so very blessed to have been born here and to be Americans. It is a privilege to be a citizen of the United States… Not an entitlement. πŸ™ I could go on and on, but I won’t. Glad to know that I am not alone in my observations. Thank you for sharing! And Happy Thanksgiving speaking of the foundations of our nation! Blessings!πŸ—πŸŒ½πŸ¦ƒ
